Description:	Varkert casino is ensconced in a World Heritage building. The story goes back to the late 1800s when this exquisite piece of architecture served first as the water supply department of the Royal Palace , then as a coffee house. Later it was transformed into a music pavilion. Now, post renovation, it is the Varkert Casino. The clients of Destination Central Europe Travel can enjoy a special package which includes the following services: - free taxi transfer from the hotel to the casino - free entry - free welcome drink (champagne) - free buffet bar at the restaurant The building which houses the Casino was designed by Miklós Ybl (1814-1891), one of the most famous Hungarian architects, and now forms part of the World Heritage. It originally functioned as the engine room of the water supply system of the Royal Palace. It was built in 1897 on what was at the time the oldest street in Budapest, the Hosszúsor. The engine room eventually became obsolete, after which the building played an important role in entertaining the general public, with it being refurbished as a coffee house in 1905, and later as a music pavilion in 1913. Over the past forty years it has operated as an elegant restaurant. The building was renovated in 1992 and regained it's original form and elegance. One of Europe's most elegant casinos found its home in the building, where guests interested in gambling are still welcomed to this day in the most elegant surroundings
House rules:	. The casino is open 24 hours a day . Our guests are offered a wide variety of gourmet dishes from our buffet table . The casino may only be visited by those over 18 years of age . Photographic equipment and mobile phones may not be brought into the casino. We ask that you deposit these at reception . Gaming is conducted in United States Dollars and Hungarian Forints, although other convertible currencies and VISA/Mastercard are also accepted . The minimum and maximum stakes are displayed on every gaming table in the casino . In accordance with Hungarian gambling laws it is forbidden to take gambling chips out of the building . On arrival our guests are registered on the basis of any valid identification bearing a photograph, and their personal information is stored. Our registered guests receive a permanent entry card, so on later visits they need only show this
